We found out about this really cool contest with three of our favorite authors and just had to share it with you!

Listening Library is having a contest to win an iPod Touch and a collection of signed audiobooks!!! Hooked already? Here's the brief details, but you can find more on the contest site:

Authors Involved:
  • Libba Bray- The Gemma Doyle Trilogy
  • Tamora Pierce-  the Beka Cooper series (though she's also written many others)
  • Rick Riordan- the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series
Some of the details:

  • You have to be between 13-18  years old.
  • In a video between 30 seconds and 5 minutes answer the question “If you could go on a road trip with a character from your favorite audio series, where would you go?  What would you do along the way?  How would you travel?” Though as a catch you have to include a reference to Florida, a reference to audiobooks, and a clip of dialogue from your chosen audio (from the above three authors) that can be downloaded on the contest site.
  • Submit the video between June 1st and August 17th.

So visit www.fantasyroadtripcontest.com for more information and to submit your video! Good luck and have fun!

Erika's Rambling

Since we needed to post something today, I considered posting a random blog about my life. However, I knew this would be extremely boring. Instead I decided to post a few random tidbits of things going on in the world of YA. which, trust me, is a lot more interesting:
  • Lauren Myracle is having a contest in honor of her new book Peace, Love, and Baby Ducks! You can earn duckie points for a chance to win a gigantoid (Lauren's word, not mine) coffee cup filled with goodies! All you have to do for 10 duckie points is register at the ning and there are more challenges on the site to win more little duckies!:

  • Shana Silver is giving away books in a contest! She was cleaning out her bookshelf and has a lot to give away. There are many ways to gain entries, you can find all the details on her live journal:

  • And finally, I'll leave you with a How to Be Bad video you won't want to miss. The paperback came out yesterday and the video is compiled of footage and photos from E. Lockhart, Sarah Mlynowski, and Lauren Myracle's tour last year. Those new to the blog will not remember, but we hosted one of these events (Recap here). Julie's chest is the first picture in the video! I can not get over the hilarity in this... And a photo of Lorena, Julie, and I follow... There's also singing, dancing, badness, and goodness!:

Hope you enjoyed my short, but sweet post! If anyone has any suggestions for future posts, we'll gladly accept them. There are 7 days left of BEDA and though we have some scheduled, we may still be in need of some assistance.

Stay tuned tomorrow for another post (yet to be determined)!

For the first time, Seventeen magazine has featured author videos on their site. And who's videos are they? John Green's

So, of course they're hilarious and you won't want to miss them. He made them exclusively for Seventeen.

Here's the link.

Enjoy!

Th1rteen R3asons Why

This has been floating around the web and we thought we should post about it as our way of passing it on:

"The last time anyone heard this voice was when Hannah Baker was alive. I wont divulge my reasons for posting these tapes and letting Hannah’s story be heard by the whole world...yet. But those of you who are on her list can probably guess why I’m doing this and thats all that matters. For those of you who haven’t had your tape posted yet...stay tuned."

Here's the link to the first tape.

It’s based on Jay Asher's book Th1rteen R3asons Why that came out last year.

Brisingr Signing- RECAP

Sorry this post was delayed, but it’s here now.

So, we'll be fairly brief. Christopher Paolini’s signing went really well. Instead of talking about the entire Q&A, which was funny and entertaining, we'll show part:

Thanks to mercheese for putting this video up.

So, we had to leave right before the end of the Q&A, duty called for the need of sticky notes, but apparently, Christopher did a cartwheel.

Then, the signing began, we were writing names on post-its and making sure the books were on the title page to make them easier to sign. We separated into groups and headed through the line with our post-its, though it was a difficult task since the line extended from the signing area, through a door to a crammed hallway, through another door and all the way down the auditorium to the stage, and then some.

The line went on and on, poor Christopher had a ton of books to sign, but it didn’t seem like he minded much. He was really nice.

After about an hour and a half, the last book was signed (one of ours), Christopher said his hand wasn’t actually hurting much, and that writing the book by hand had helped (Don’t understand? Watch the video.) We took a few pictures with him, he did a few cartwheels/flips, and then we all parted ways.

It went extremely well and we hope Christopher had a great time like we did!

So, that’s a condensed version of the event, which would have been longer, but I figure the video did a lot of the talking.

And to make up for our lack of posting this week, we’re going to make it up to you! (Yes, two posts a week does not cut it for us.) All next week (Monday-Friday), we’re going to post about a past signing/event that we helped with in the past year. They were awesome and we hope the posts are entertaining to you as well!
